School Board Approves Calendar Adjustment for May 1 and June 2, 2026

At its March 2 meeting, the Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) Board of Education approved a calendar adjustment for the 2025-26 school year affecting K-8 students.

Changes to May 1, 2026

  • May 1 will remain a no-school (professional development) day for students in grades K-5 and 9-12.
  • Middle school students (grades 6–8) will have an asynchronous blended learning day instead. Students will complete lessons posted by their teachers and may have check-in opportunities that day.

End of Year (June 1 and June 2) Schedule

  • Monday, June 1, 2026 will now be the last day of school for students in grades K-8.
  • Tuesday, June 2, 2026 will remain the last day of school for students in grades 9-11.
  • June 2 will be a staff workday for K-8 teachers to pack classrooms and prepare for building transitions connected to changes taking place for fall 2026.

Why This Change Was Made

This adjustment gives staff time to prepare for upcoming school transitions while still meeting state requirements for student contact days. Our goal is to ensure a smooth start to the 2026-27 school year for students, staff, and families. If you have questions, please contact your child’s school.

Thank you for your flexibility and partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bob McDowell
Assistant Superintendent
