Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools Stakeholders:

To assist with the search for the new superintendent, the Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm. As we conduct the search, board members want you to be informed of the process we will be following. Additionally, as we strive to make the best selection possible we would like to encourage you to provide your input.

To begin the process, the School Exec Connect consultants, Dr. Kenneth (Ken) Dragseth, Dr. Antoinette (Toni) Johns and Dr. David Clough, will meet virtually with board members, school staff, parents, students and community members in focus groups. This work will begin within the next few weeks in an effort to determine the strengths, challenges and goals for our district, as well as the characteristics or skills you would like to see in a superintendent. Additionally, our staff, families and community members will have the opportunity to give confidential written feedback to the consultants via a link from our district website. Using this information, we will develop a profile of the desired skills and characteristics in the next superintendent.

The position will be advertised nationally so that candidates can be recruited from across the country. This work will happen between February 26 and April 2. The Board and consultants will meet on April 8 to review and select candidates for the initial round of interviews. Five or six of the recommended candidates will be interviewed by the Board on April 12 and April 13. After those interviews, the Board will determine which finalists to move forward. The Board anticipates that two or three candidates will advance.

The next round of individual interviews for finalists will occur on April 14, 15 and 16, if needed. Each candidate will be invited for an all-day interview process. This includes open forums that will be available to staff, students, community members and a final formal Board interview. The Board will ask staff, students and community to provide input into the selection, by participating in an open question and answer session with each candidate and filling in a feedback sheet to be shared with the Board.  We plan to act on the new superintendent in April.

You may choose to give your confidential feedback to us by completing the Survey Monkey form, below. All replies will be confidential. Please submit feedback between March 1 and March 10.
